The devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Pray a Rosary

In each of the six apparitions to the shepherd children of Fatima in 1917, the Virgin Mary asked that we pray the Rosary every day.

First apparition, May 13, 1917

“Say the Rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and the end of the war.”

Second apparition, June 13, 1917

“Say the Rosary...”

Third apparition, July 13, 1917

“I want you to [...] continue to say the Rosary every day in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war, because only she can obtain it.”

Fourth apparition, August 19, 1917

“...continue to say the Rosary every day.”

Fifth apparition, September 13, 1917

“Continue to say the Rosary every day for the end of the war.”

Sixth apparition, October 13, 1917

“Continue to say the Rosary every day.”

In her book “Calls from the Message of Fatima”, Sister Lucia wrote:

“The Rosary is the most pleasant prayer that we can offer to God and the one with the greatest benefit for our souls. [...] It is the formula of vocal prayer that is best for all of us, of which we must have great appreciation and in which we must do our best to never leave it. Because better than anyone else, God and Our Lady know what is best for us and what we most need. This prayer will be a powerful means to help us preserve faith, hope, and charity.”

Also in her book “Calls from the Message of Fatima”, Sister Lucia reminds us of the words that Pope Pius IX said, on his deathbed, to those around him:

“The Rosary is a summarized Gospel and it will give those who pray it those rivers of peace of which Scripture speaks; it is the most beautiful devotion, the most abundant in graces, and most pleasant to the Heart of Mary.”

Recommendation in the testament of Saint Pius X:

“The Rosary is the most beautiful of all prayers, the richest in graces, and the one that touches the Heart of the Mother of God the most...

The Rosary

If you want peace to reign in your homes, pray the Rosary together.”

Extract of the homily from Sunday, July 10, 1977, in Fatima, Albino Cardinal Luciani:

“Let us pray the Rosary, alone or as a family. It is the most beautiful biblical prayer. The Our Father, the prayer taught by Jesus; the words of the Hail Mary, were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The meditated and internalized mysteries of the Rosary help us deepen the Bible. The Rosary recited as a family is a form of family liturgy.”

The Most Holy Virgin has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary.

The Holy Rosary will be recognized as a liturgical prayer.
